I think I'm surprised because I was very focused on action this time (keeping it clear, A then B then C). If anything, I would have thought I should go back and do an editing pass, simplifying sentences to keep it tense and perfectly lucid (during such a complex scene).

But I'll take your compliment here. You make a good point, and I'm reminded how disappointed I was in the latest Lee Child book (for the reason that the language didn't sing at all--I think he's bored with his series). Thanks!
