I'm glad you like the chapter names—I've kind of been regretting the "P" choice as this turned into a longer effort than I'd originally anticipated (how unusual for me).
I hadn't really explicitly thought about that, that this is the first time we've ever encountered Veronica completely on her own, cut off from her support system. She will need every one of her resources on this journey.
I think, if anything, I am softening the characters and vile situations you might encounter on a Greyhound. Go Amtrak if you want to see the USA.
