The scariest dreams are the ones that seem real to us, I think. I'm getting the impression that some of my readers find Veronica's PTSD-like symptoms to be OOC. However, after living in denial for so long and lashing out at the people around her rather than seeking help for her uncontrollable feelings, I could see something big like a shooting really unleashing all those feelings in a very unmanageable way. As a writer, it's more interesting for me to see season 3 Veronica as inconsistent due to denial, immaturity, and three years of relentless trauma rather than the writing staff not bothering to create a satisfying character arc.

And just because they're 'safe' doesn't mean they've gotten off scot-free. I guess I like themes of strong people being tested and having to rise above tragedy and heartbreak. How strong is someone really if life is easy for them? I like my relationships forged in fire. It's sort of interesting because in real life I avoid stress and drama at all cost.
