Thank you for noticing that they are both "off-kilter". I purposely refused to have them run into each other's arms, la-ti-da, everything's perfect now. It's tense and uncertain on purpose. Veronica in particular is trying hard, because she needs Logan to help her father; so she's dampening her natural argumentative instincts.
Re Veronica thinking Logan is drinking. She had another detective check how he was doing when she located him, and the report was that he walked on the beach, volunteered and went to a bar every night. It would be a natural assumption to think he was drinking again.
